This is a lovely little inspirational tale that I thoroughly enjoyed as a child. I was so happy to find it online, and gifted a copy to my 8-year-old daughter for Easter. She adored this book so much, as well as the gorgeous, detailed illustrations, that when she reached the end she looked up at me and said "Waitaminute, that can't be all! No! It's not over!" It's one of those stories that will inspire your child (at least, it did me and my daughter) to feel confident in knowing that s/he is perfect already, and being true to oneself will lead you to your ultimate purpose in life.
I found this book by accident. It was one of many books my kids randomly pulled off the shelves at the library one day.
Boy, is this a hidden gem! It's a little longish, has a lot of words per page, so it's not for kids with the shortest attention spans. Once they get to age three or four, though, and can sit through it, you'll want to read it to them again and again until they memorize it.
The story is nice, sweet, and engaging. The message, that being kind is "more important than anything," is *perfect*, and powerfully and dramatically told.
I can't recommend this book enough. There's no reason it shouldn't be a hugely successful, famous book. Get a copy for your own family, and get some more copies to give away as presents!
I purchased this book long ago when my two daughters where very young. Now that they are grown and starting families of their own they both wanted to share this wonderful story and so I purchased a second book so that they may both have one. It is a beautiful story on the value of being true and loving. It is way more that a typical Easter story and although it does not discuss the Christian story of Easter, it does share how being empathetic and courageous in the face of adversity is its own reward. This is true treasure for all seasons and a great example of caring for all ages.
I love the lessons in this story - great for sunday school too even though it is about bunnies.
I bought this for nostalgia purposes because it's the book I had as a kid. Love it and I can't wait to give it to my kids at Easter.
The Apotheoses of Lacspor
As a librarian, I read this story to children from grades 1-3. They were entranced by the story and listened intently. I cant wait to share this book with my grand-daughter next Easter. She will be 5 and loves books with large illustrations!
For many years I would read this story to my children as Easter approached. Early was one of their favorite characters. If you like Courderoy, you'll love Early. I have now ordered "The Story of the Easter Bunny" for my grandchildren to enjoy.
I had this book as a child, and lost it when we moved. I'm now nearly 30, and I wanted to share it with my nieces and nephew. It's still as magical as I remember.
