Thos book has characters that come to life like Hollis' drawings. It adresses the issues of both a senior with alzheimers and an older foster child , with grace and charm. The reader will be eager to turn the pages to see how the story will develop and what will finally happen for Hollis and those she loves. The characters are treated in a positive light, highlighting the good that they do, which adds to the charm of the story. The description of the backdrop of nature makes it easy for the reader to step into the story and walk next to the characters as it unfolds.
I would recommend this book to everyone. I normally read science fiction and fantasy. This book was a wonderful change and a great uplifting message.
The best book on children at risk in the foster system. Have given it to youth, parents and clinicians for years in my practice and to my students. Amazing book.
This is a great "SHORT" book for someone who has a 10 to 14 yr old girl. My daughters are not readers, and this book works great because it is short and wonderful for mandatory book reports in school. We bought the movie also. The story is very compelling and my girls were actually interested in what was going to happen next! That works for me!!!!
Some children's books are only for children, but a good story has layers of interest for everyone. This is that kind of story.
Great book. Really enjoyed it!
This book is amazing!!
Good story with likeable character, but the writer did not use enough emphasis on a major reveal in this story. Also I felt like it hit too close to heart for anyone with a loved one who has a memory disorder. But still a good story that you should read.
