Earl the Squirrel doesn’t think of himself as spoiled, but his mother does. She decides it’s high time Earl learns to find acorns for himself. There’s only one problem—he doesn’t know where to look. Earl’s friend Jill offers to help, but that’s not what Earl’s mother had in mind. So, wearing his bright red scarf, Earl sets off on his own for an action-packed acornfinding mission.Striking black-and-white scratchboard art is accented by Earl’s crimson scarf. The effect is classic, clean, and thoroughly recognizable as Don Freeman’s signature style.

earl the squirrel, why did you have to be not in print yet when i was a kid? -- thankfully this book is NOW in print for today's kids -- this hardcover copy made a perfect gift for a little girl who has just begun to read all on her own -- she'll be able to manhandle the book to her heart's content without her mom having to worry about the flimsiness of a paper back copy -- thanks for having this book in hardcover at a low low price, arrived nicely and quickly!!!! -- an efficient, effective bargain for sure -- although earl the squirrel is worth his weight in acorns for sure !!!!! -- especially good if the voice of earl's mom is read by someone who can do a good impression of a squirrel !!!
Earl the Squirrel is a really cute book about a young squirrel. His mother thinks it's high time he learns to find acorns for himself.
The illustrations are darling too.

This is by the same author that wrote the Corduroy stories.
Precious story--I also bought a stuffed animal that looks like Earl for a sweet set. My daughter is knitting a red scarf for him--to be like the book. We loved the Corduroy books so we knew we'd love this story too. Don Freeman is great!
My 3 year old little girl adores this book. She's had me read it to her so many times that she sits and "reads" it on her own. I love the black, white and red contrast illustrations.
Granddaughter says it is good. As are his other books. We have enjoyed several.
My granddaughter Katie LOVES this book especially the part where Earl's mother tells him she wants to speak to him. She laughs every time I read that part to her. I love that all of the illustrations are in black & white except for the red scarf! What a contrast! It really makes the book unique! A great story for every child to read!!!Everyone should have a copy of this book in their home!!!!
Wonderful story from Corduroy author.
Great story! Arrived quickly!
