I'm a mental health therapist for children and teens and this book has been my go-to for initial exposure to feelings and understanding feeling complexity. I love that it relatably describes how children can have two very incongruent feelings at the same time and it states it all so simply with the illustrations and normal-sounding words. I would highly recommend this book for all children (not just children in therapy) as it's an excellent tool for feeling exploration.
I like this book for both my kids. It gives a good description to preschool aged children about how they can have two different feelings around the same situation.
Even my 2 yr old wants to read it. I love that the children in the stories have expressive faces, makes it easy to talk about how people look when they feel a certain way. The book poises questions and if you give your kid time they will answer, great for discussion. One of the little stories is about how an older sib feels with a new baby, good for anyone approaching that life changer. My kids like it and it gives good suggestions for further discussion.
Delightfully done book for anyone actually who has trouble with emotions. In a simple childlike way the book illustrates how to handle more than one emotion at a time. It is comforting and reassuring to the reader that it is ok to have more than one emotion about the same thing....very helpful....
Wonderful resource!
Awesome concept for kids to learn and know about. I used this book when I worked at a community mental health center and now in my private practice working with child victims of crime. Great!
This book is simply written and intended for a child 5-8, in my opinion. It has been an asset for our child who often struggles with comflicting emotions. It is easy to understand and offers real life examples for kids.
Classic! All kids should read.
