Story and pictures are adorable, as all Fancy Nancy books are. However, I thought this was the same hardcover book I would get at the bookstore. It is NOT. This is my biggest complaint with Amazon - they don't post/require REAL photos of items - stock photos are all you see. The book doesn't have a dust jacket, and is quite a bit smaller than the regular edition - just a heads-up. You get what you pay for, even on Amazon, apparently. If I had known, I would have purchased the regular hardback from the bookstore, which is what I thought I was getting. This might be a good choice for homes with little ones, however.
I love Fancy Nancy books and really enjoy giving them as gifts to any and all of my fancy little friends. My grand daughter enjoys the stories and is a fancy girl too. Fancy Nancy stories are easy for little girls to relate to and teaches them some French words along the way. Even fancy grandmas get a chuckle and fun read out of each book. Don't miss this series for any little girls in your life. The easy read series books are great too!
This is our second Fancy Nancy book. My girls have asked me to read this book to them nearly every evening since we've gotten it two weeks ago. I think they like this one even more than the first one we got (Bonjour, Butterfly). It teaches fancy words like the other book, but also teaches a lesson (that being unique is better than being fancy).

Within reading this book to my 5 year old two times, she already "reads" the book - she doesn't read, yet - as she's memorized various lines according to the illustrations. When she does this I know she loves it!
With a daughter named Nancy, I can hardly pass up books with a character like "Fancy Nancy." I would have bought the books for my daughter anyway, but I was pleased to discover how wonderful they are. The first book (called just Fancy Nancy) is a brilliant piece of writing and art with a sweet story that goes well beyond its title. So I was glad to see Ms. O'Connor and Ms. Glasser had put together another volume.

This time out, Nancy and her family are going to get a dog and, after babysitting a neighbor's posh puppy, find a different dog to fit them. Again, it's a nice story and the art is absolutely marvelous. I wasn't quite as touched by the story this time around but I was knocked out by how much I liked the first Fancy Nancy book so it's not too surprising that the second book is a bit of a disappointment. Still, it's a great story and a beautiful book that I will love sharing with my family for years to come.
Our daughter & her friends formed an organization to assist our local Humane Society. They bring a therapy dog into schools & libraries to read books about dogs. This book is now in their collection. It's a great story about a little girl with a fancy vocabulary who wants a dog. She frequently needs to explain her fancy words, making it a fun story to read aloud to little ones. A great book!
My 4 yr old daughter LOVES Fancy Nancy! She loves the great writing and illustrations, and especially the new vocabulary that she learns in every book. This series is a great way to expand every little girl's vocabulary.
I purchased Fancy Nancy and the Posh Puppy to go along with the original Fancy Nancy book for my 5 year old granddaughter . . . I had them sent directly to her house while I knew I would be visiting so we could open them together and start reading. My granddaughter loved them and I had to read them several times during our first sitting! The story is very cute and age-appropriate, and the illustrations and colors are perfect for little girls her age. I wish these books had been out when my girls were little! I love the word "posh" because I was born in the country where it's most popularly used.
Entertains and teaches all in one. Great series for little ones.
