This is a truly touching, endearing, and enjoyable children's book about a lonely puppy who wants a boy of his own. It is very well illustrated. My students enjoyed the twist on the the usual 'boy wants a puppy' plot. Wonderful, happy ending. I used this story as a springboard for story writing in my classroom. The book inspired my second graders to create stories such as The Kitten Who Wanted a Girl, The Kangaroo Who Wanted a Boy, The Koala Who Wanted a Girl, etc. This is a wonderful book for children to read independently (ages 7-10) or as a read-aloud (ages 2-10). This would be a great addition to a child's personal library. An additional perk is the bargain price!
One of my favorite, favorite books when I was learning to read, many years ago. I got it for my daughter, who is expecting our first grandchild, along with one of my husband's favorites, "The Contented Little Pussycat." Can't wait to read them both to the grand baby.
My 3 year old grandson (lives over 1,000 miles away) loves us to read him this book over FaceTime —and his Mommy loved this story when she was little:)
An old but touching, heart-warming story written as children's literature but greatly treasured by adults as well
The Rollers of Vildar
Bought this for a friend because I had one for my son when he was a little boy some 28 years ago. Great book for little boys!
Very good book!!! My daughter loved it 36 years ago, and I hope my grandchildren will love it for Christmas! It has a very sweet story.
I have always loved this book! Even as a child to a grown adult. The story is interesting and the illustrations are timeless. Written from the dog's point of view, This book is an out of print book.
Adorable, looking up more books from this author.
