Charles DeLano Hine (March 15, 1867 – Feb. 13, 1927) was an American civil engineer, lawyer, railway official, and Colonel in the United States Army.

In 1907 Hine assisted in the revising the business methods of the Department of the Interior at Washington, . 5 Selected publications. In 1910, Hine became temporary special representative of President Taft, planning ways to improve the organization and methods of the executive departments of the United States government.

Charles DeLano Hine was an American civil engineer, lawyer, railway official and colonel in the United States Army. He took part in the Spanish-American War; served as an inspector of safety appliances for the Interstate Commerce Commission; receiver for the Washington, Arlington & Falls Church Railway; author of books and articles on wartime railroading. Dominated by a desire to learn railroading thoroughly, Hine became a freight brakeman in 1895 with the Cleveland, Cincinnati & St. Louis Railroad, and was successively, before 1898, switchman, yardmaster, conductor, and chief clerk and trainmaster for the lis division of this road.
