by Ralph M. Stair

Intended for the introductory information systems course for all business students, this book it presents fundamental tenets, rules and guidelines of the discipline; a survey of various aspects of the discipline; and a perspective on why this discipline represents an important business function. It presents how and why information systems should be used to meet organizational goals. It stresses an all-encompassing concept: the right information, if it is delivered to the right person, in the right fashion, and at the right time, can improve and ensure organizational effectiveness and efficiency.

Chocked full of information. The test bank produced by the publisher (not included) seems to be geared for a tech school level class, not a graduate level class. (Example: T or F : Oracle enjoys a 45% market share) However, that is really no reflection on the text itself. I mention it only to say if your class uses this publisher's test bank, be prepared to memorize endless minutiae.

If you are taking this class online you DON'T NEED THE BOOK!!! Seriously, save your money and use google or bing. This is a good but generic book, everything is online.

The kindle version of this book is broken. I REPEAT.. DO NOT GET THE KINDLE VERSION OF THE BOOK. Another reviewer pointed this out but I made the mistake of not reading the reviews and here I am now. 5 days behind in my class praying my physical copy arrives on time.

Now I have to pay for the full version of the book instead of renting it.

Amazon is blaming this on the publisher. It is a bunch of BS though. AND THE CUSTOMER SERVICE I GOT WITH REGARD TO THIS WAS COMPLETE S***. AMAZON IS ON THE WAY DOWN IF THIS IS HOW THEY ARE GOING TO START TREATING CUSTOMERS.

The information in the book was as expected and really helped during my semester, but the physical condition of the book arrived with tears on the cover. I do not expect to be paying for any damages that were not created by me. Otherwise, thank you for a completed text.

This book reads like a high school intro to computing. Thank God I just rented it because I cannot stand to read the 40+ page chapters that do not have any useful or (relevant) information in it. Textbooks on Tech and Computing need to be updated nearly yearly and I have no problem paying more for a recent edition if it is better than this. Unnacceptable for a graduate level course.

I rarely hate textbooks. Unfortunately this was a required book, along with two others for my computer class. This book has unnecessarily long chapters that droned on and on. (Sometimes succinctness is a good thing.)
