Headline: Brilliant scientist, businessman, beloved husband, and a multitude of other pursuits -- Loses head at the Guillotine

This biography is best for grades 6/8 thru 12, and for adults as well. Lavoisier is considered the "Father of Chemistry" but was accomplished in Biology as well. His was a very productive life and twas a shame to cut it short. In addition to learning about the man, his achievements, and personal life - one learns how the French Revolution swirled in the background and eventually engulfed Lavoisier's bright light. His scientific work is clearly explained and short sections can be skipped if science is not one's favorite subject.

At 112 pages, this may be the best encapsulation of Lavoisier's life and age for youth.
4.5 * - due to lack of semi-glossy pages and color illustrations. At least one color plate would have been nice and the b & w engravings would show better on semi-gloss.
