I ordered this for my wife, and we both read the text and looked at the photographs. There are no startling new revelations in this book, but that's not the point of it. What it provides are brief biographies and candid snapshots of the four Kennedy brothers. The first-born son, Joe, got killed before accomplishing the goals his father had set for him. This put Jack in the spotlight, and he succeeded in becoming the nation's first Catholic president, only to be cut down by an assassin's bullet in the third year of his first term. Bobby, in Jack's shadow up to this point, then becomes the Kennedy to watch until he, too, is cut down by an assassin's bullet when he is probably on his way to becoming president. Ted, of course, has an unfortunate incident that prevents him from becoming a candidate for the nation's highest office. He succeeds greatly, however, as the "lion" of the Senate. This book is well worth the price.
As someone who has read many Kennedy books, I didn't really find anything new in here. I noticed that in the chapter that was about Joe Jr., there were not a lot of photos in there of him. The last half of Joe Jr.'s section had photos of Jack in the 40's, so I thought it was a bit incomplete. Recommended for anyone just starting to learn about the Kennedy family.
Do not let the title fool you, its not all photo's, there is a good amount of written details. In my opinion this book is excellent. It definitely gives the reader a lot of things that you may not have known about the brothers. For me it filled in a lot of blanks about Joe and Bobby. Also a few things about Jack and Ted. It is an easy read.
very nice
The book has a little bit of everything in it. Alot of great photos some that haven't been seen before, espeically a touching one in praticualr of Jack and Jackie. It covers each brother well and as well as a bit of Jack and Bobby so of course that is a plus. I would recommend this book to anyone, especially if you have a collection of Kennedy stuff this would fit perfectly with it and if not then this would be a good book to start one.
