Inside of Hong Kong was the infamous Walled City. Strangers were not welcome there. Police hesitated to enter. It was a haven of filth, crime and sin. Prostitution, pornography and drug addiction flourished. Jackie Pullinger had grown up believing that if she put her trust in God, He would lead her. When she was 20 years old, God called her to the Walled City. She obeyed. And as she spoke of Jesus Christ, brutal hoods were converted, prostitutes retired from their trade and heroin junkies found new power that freed them from the bondage of drug addiction. Hundreds discovered new life in Christ. Chasing the Dragon tells the whole amazing story exactly as it happened. Equally amazing has been the reach of this ministry, now detailed in this updated and revised edition. From Hong Kong to the Philippines, Thailand and beyond, the ministry that started with Jackie and her friends taking people in to live and care for them has continued and developed to form the present St. Stephens Society. Readers will be inspired by this tale of trust and loving as Jesus would.

A wonderful read about the journey of a young woman to change lives through God's power. I recommend this to anyone who is working with drug addicts, prostitutes, or other addictions. For me it shed a new light on the power of prayer. Jackie expresses her Christian views in this book but this book does not read like other Christian books as it's more focused on story telling and sharing rather than convincing others of any doctrine. I recently visited the Kowloon Walled City Memorial Park in Hong Kong where the events in this book took place before it was torn down. If you enjoy this book then the park is also worth a visit to reflect and remember God's faithfulness and power to change lives.

Inspiring book by one young person who heeds the call, and goes naively to Hong Kong from England. Miracle upon miracle occurs, including how she was about to be turned away at arrival, but then is able to enter Hong Kong. The story is also about Jackie learning as she went. Not knowing what to do next, God always led her and provided whatever she needed for the next step in what God had called her to do.

you will not regret purchasing this item, if you seek the view and experience of a missionary. The book of Acts is found in these pages - drug addicts received Jesus as Lord and had NO withdrawl effects. the area jackie served had the most addicting drug globally. yes, there are many globally being persecuted and living thru very hard times...go to Voice of the Martyrs website to listen to weekly podcasts and pray for them, should Holy Spirit lead you. Praise God for the pouring of His Spirit over all flesh and the knowledge of His glory covers the earth as the waters cover the seas....see you in heaven.
Wel
This is one of the most wonderful books I've ever read! Why? It is a testimony of a single woman who wanted to serve the Lord as a missionary, who ended up in the most horrific place (The Walled City), who was able by God's GRACE and LOVE to make all the difference in some of the most "hopeless" people on the earth! Within these pages I read about one who actually exemplified God's love, that love that bears, believes, hopes, and endures all things; that Love that DOES NOT fail! She was taught to go the extra, extra, extra mile, and learned to walk in Love! Once a Heroin or Opium addict was born again, received the Baptism of the Holy Spirit, and received the Gift of speaking in other Tongues, they were promised that during withdrawal from the drugs, if they spoke in tongues whenever pain came on, they would be able to go through withdrawal nearly pain free, and they did every time! If you want to read about a true disciple of Jesus Christ, void of any pretense, read this book! The lessons are real, touching the heart, and tears of Joy will follow!

This is such an eyeopener as to what true foreign mission work is. It is popular now in churches to try to get as many members to experience a ten day mission on foreign soil of which I have done. I think the money it cost would have gone much further in the hands of God called missionaries in the help of witnessing or meeting the needs of people who i havent a clue what that would be. Also it helped me see that I am trying to be a super good keeper of the beliefs of my church affiliation to the elimination of receiving what God my Father wants me to have.Thank you for giving your life to and for people that most of us would not ever be aware of reaching for Christ If you want to see feel and learn about our awesome God you must read this book I loved Jackie, fell more in love with God and His great love for people and am truly blessed. READ THIS BOOK!!!!!!!!

What an eye opener!! The author's descriptions of the cruel life people living in the "walled city" endured, the lack of an avenue of escape, the corruption of law enforcement, and lack of politicians willing to help served to stir within the reader a profound sense of compassion for the lost. Her simplicity in sharing the Gospel reminds us all to stir ourselves up and press in to the presence of of God so that we are attuned to the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. As the Body of Christ we are compelled to to go!!

Great book! A must read for all believers to know the simplicity of God's call on his people and His power . Jackie Pullinger tugs at the core strings of showing God's love in the most practical, simplistic ways, directing the focus to Christ and His finished work. She is a contradiction to many structured church walls that hold bound to too much theories and methodologies.
God is so good !Chasing the Dragon is the testimony of Jackie Pulliger of God's leading in her life through the Holy Spirit. In her early 20's she was lead from America to the most dangerous places in China with only 100 dollars. She was to young to be backed by missionary organizations so God was her only backer!
Miracles followed her as she found shelter, and food for herself till she could start a youth center. The youth center was to provide a place for youths to go and find out about Jesus. However, because of some very tough gang activity ( the triads) she was forced to witness to gang members and even go to court with them. She was also lead by the Spirit to bring healing and deliverance from heroin without withdrawal symptoms, because the new converts accepted the Holy Spirit immediately. I was so amazed by her faith. Her story is so inspiring. She stepped out as the Spirit called her into the most dangerous city in China ( The Walled City) where God used her to set people free from drugs, child prostitution and violence!!! Praise God for people who live lives lead by the Spirit!
