There was no one he knew. No one to care what happened to him. As he tossed and turned trying to fall asleep, his mind would suddenly begin to panic and scream out in protest, How did I get myself into this?

A pastor living in Communist Russia, Nickolai Panchuk struggled as a prisoner of the KGB to find his purpose. Persecuted for his Christian faith, Nickolai remained in a Siberian camp for eight years, refusing to sacrifice his faith and suffering the consequences. Harassed, beaten, and dejected, Nickolai found hope in the unlikeliest source: an old ox named Maksim.

With the help and strength of God, Nickolai and Maksim worked together to perform a weekly miracle witnessing for Christ in the most disparaging of circumstances and winning souls along the way.

I thought my life was rough, but this poor man had the faith of Job. What a witness. I hope many people will be influenced to turn their life to Jesus and look forward to an eternal home. After receiving this book as a gift, I turned around and bought it for a few of my friends. Blessings to all.

This book gave me a boost in my Faith. I want to have the kind of Faith and love for God as portrayed in this Story. I want to have that kind of courage to stand up for God no matter what. This is a wonderful, well written book that will encourage the reader to trust our Lord and give hope in any challenging situation.
This book is a fast read, very well written, but most of all it is one of the most inspiring books I've ever read in my 65 years! How was this man able to endure two years of torture and 8 more years of grueling life in a Siberian prison camp? Because of his absolute surrender and commitment to God, even before he was sent to the camp. What an inspiration his faith is! What a testimony to God's keeping and sustaining power!
Wow! I zipped through this book in one day. Actually, half a day. I stared at 7:00pm and finished at midnight. Very, very inspiring and humbling. I would recommend it for anyone going through a difficult time because it will inspire you to persevere and trust God.

Also, Bradley Booth is a very good writer. I also enjoyed Dare to Stand Alone a lot.
Great little book. Tribute to maintaining faith and scruples even in such adverse circumstances, and the stubborn old ox, Maksim, was nothing less than a miracle. Definitely worth the read. Provides hope no matter what you have to endure.
This book will help you realized how much freedom God has given us and yet we don't do His work. Only the power of God can help us to withstand such a trial. This book will help you see how weak we humans are and how great is our God, Jesus Christ.
Love the testimony of God's faithfulness!! Book like this are faith builders! I t was easy to read and hard to put down!
No lecture here, just a word of encouragement to those of you that need a reminder that our Lord is still working miracles. This is a great book for those in need of an example of faith that "walks" the walk. In my world this would be required reading for those who claim to be on the "narrow way" that leads to life. It's flat out inspirational.
