by Jeff Jansen,John Crowder

"though you have not seen Him, you love Him, and though you do not see Him now, but believe in Him, you greatly rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory," (1 Peter 1:8 NASB).

It is time to return the joy of the Lord to everyday Christian life. The Greek term for ecstasy is linked with the pleasurable, God-given state of out-of-body experience recorded throughout the New Testament and the church age.

Author John Crowder shows you how God's active interaction with men and women throughout the ages has always been marked by supernatural experiences. More than a state of mind, you will see how the nature of God's ecstasy is found in the joy, bliss, and inner raptures of His presence.

You will also:

* Learn the history of trances in revival ministries.

* Gain a biblical understanding of Christian mysticism.

* Explore the ecstatic states of prayer and spiritual trances.

* Learn how to walk in continual joy and pleasure before the Father.

* Examine miraculous phenomena.

* Be refreshed by the new wine of God's Spirit!

* Be encouraged to drink from the river of His pleasure! (Psalm 36:8)

There is no doubt that you can experience the joy and ecstasy of His presence every day of your life.

This review also covers the 'miracle workers...' book which I read partway, the historical was interesting, but then he got into a frantic mode with his prophecy, seeming to think a lot of himself like he thinks he's the next thing to a messiah. I burned that book because I didn't want it to get into someone else's hands that might be easily led. The Ecstacy book I am halfway through and although there is a lot of 'truth' in that we can have a much more intimate relationship with God, and become so absorbed into his spirit and he into us that we lose consciousness of a separate nature, God never takes our free will away. Here again he gets so caught up in his own 'prowess' as a 'mystic' that I am turned off by it. Can't decide if I want to finish it. It doesn't feel like when I read Jeanne Guyonn where I feel her spirit speaking directly to mine. Buyer beware.
I've said it all in the above caption. If you're easily offended by out of the box theology then don't read this book. If you're hungry for the living reality of a God who lives...get it. Read it. Devour it. Then, let the Presence of God devour you.
Refreshingly different from main stream books. It helps me sense God's presence more. Also enjoying more of the New Wine of the Holy Spirit.
you secret
Wow! Where to start?! I am boarder-line agnostic individual and was raised in an agnostic father and religious mother and was allowed to take my own way. I do believe in a God but my beliefs are much different than yours, trust me. If you are buying this book you are most likely like me hungry for the truth, or you love God and need a good read. Either way this book is a fascinating! I thought it was going to be one man’s opinion on stories in the bible or jibber-jabber of hog wash stories. Instead it uses the bible 100s of times with scripture references for you to do further research if you want. To read this you come to grips with your understanding of “Jesus lifetime era”. These were highly spiritual times. People would walk the street proclaiming they were gods putting people into trances, speaking in tongues, killing them and bringing them back to life and pouring fire on logs and starting fire… acts of magik or god like powers. Parts are still controversial by using references of people smoking Acapulco Gold, ect. This book holds no answers of the truth, but is a wonderful glimpse on examples of what the church, and biblical times were like. I will use this book in reference later in life for sure! I loved this book! 5 stars!
I was unfamiliar with John Crowder although my husband listened to him on a regular basis. When he was to come to Atlanta, we decided to attend but I purposely didn't watch anything posted on YouTube, etc. A friend who was also going suggested this book. I skimmed it on her Kindle and decided to get it for myself. I love it. I appreciate the range of scholars, theologians and denominations that John draws from. He's not locked into any one persuasion. Some of the people mentioned in the book I remember from my Catholic Elementary School.I wished they'd have told us more about these individuals, their stories are awesome. I know what God will do for one He'll do for another so I'm inspired to reach for the levels these that have gone before me obtained. The book can challenge belief systems but it is worth being willing to prayerfully consider things outside our comfort zones. We may find we've settle for far less than we should have.
A much needed theological, historical & experiential account. Here is the reality of the joy of Jesus. Throw off your fear and dive in!
Not as quite as good condition as I expected, but it was OK
