A very helpful outline of the first book of the Bible especially for a young Christian. I used it a lot in my early Christian life.
I referred to it a lot when faced with questions relating to the 'days or years' of creation, the beginning of sin, Cain's sin & his opportunity. I especially enjoyed his comments on Abraham and Isaac, Jacob & Joseph.
This book would be a helpful addition to he library of a young Christian wanting a helpful book for their study of Genesis but not to replace the Bible itself. The Bible really has it's own commentary and what is read apart from the Bible must be compared with what the Bible teaches. Books like this are only Helps to your studies.
It is really more than I expected. As Arthur W. Pi nk says and he presents it as such--the seedplot of the Bible. You see everything starting in Genesis. I really think he has a craft in presenting as such. I am really enjoying the book.
This is the best commentary I have read on Genesis. I first heard of the commentary when I was listening to a old radio broadcast by Martin DeHaan of Radio Bible Class. He highly recommended this book and I am glad I took his recommendation. All through the commentary, Arthur Pink shows how Genesis relates to Christ in a most convincing way.
greed style
This is an older commentary, but Pink writes in a very prayerful manner which I found brought me to a deeper truth of the text.
I loved reading this book which gave spiritual insight on the book of Genesis. I read it twice tying to follow along with the Bible and compare his view as it relates to various chapters in the book of Genesis. I recommend this book to many scholars who want to gather other perspectives on Genesis.
AW Pink has become one of my favorite authors in studying Scripture. Depth, truth, explanation I can understand. If you get Genesis, you get all of Scripture. I love this study and the subtle differences in words. Powerful!
Reading Genesis in Scripture is like licking the crispy, salty skin of a piece of fried chicken.BUT reading Gleanings in Genesis is getting to the meat! Do both!
Genesis and Exodus are probably the two best books written by Arthur Pink. Genesis
is a wonderland of types and shadows that the student can use for study, teaching,
or preaching.
